MONOLOGUE by Tommy!

Tommy! puts the assumptions to rest in his new song “Monologue”. He thanks his family for uplifting him throughout his life and the troubling times in his career. He’s honest about his fears and the nightmares that tend to keep him grounded. Though Tommy! has support, he works hard to be self-sufficient in his music. ”MONOLOGUE” has a simple piano-based beat that makes the song just as catchy at Tommy!’s bars.

Gosha by BIGBABYGUCCI

BIGBABYGUCCI is known for his natural and carefree tone. His projects sound as if rapping is just another passionate pass time of his. His music is essential for a time like this when many are cooped up inside their homes. This song is certainly an opportunity for BIGBABYGUCCI to flex,” I ain’t shaking no hands” he says, due to the dishonest attention he’s receiving. This is one of the last single’s before his awaited album A Girl Is A Gun April 16th. There are more eyes on BIGBABYGUCCI than ever, and he’s using that to his advantage.

Foolin’ Me by R’mani

This is a song to add to your “good morning” playlist. Atlanta rapper R’mani delivers an exciting and colorful performance in his single “Foolin’ Me”. His lyrics are optimistic and the use of voice distortion allows the track to evolve. The instrumentals are trap-inspired, but producer GeeohhS layers these over softer chords. R’mani pairs this with raunchy references of his hobbies outside of the studio. Along with R’mani’s airy vocals, it’s the perfect kickstarter.

”Lift Me Up” by Daddex

Daddex is capable of flipping the mood at any moment. His song “Lift Me Up” from his Christmas EP Nightmare Before Xmas does just that. The beat, that sounds most similar to the soundtrack of an action movie is captivating. The kick drum bass coupled with it forces you onto his level. Almost as partners in crime. His lyrics and persona are mischievous and sure to offend some, but where’s the fun in art it no one gets offended?

The kids will understand.

Lighthouse by EyeKeem

EyeKeem’s light vocals and decrescendo and repetition of “Lighthouse” makes it almost impossible not to stick in one’s head. As an artist, EyeKeem’s great at knowing the tone and sound his audience is looking for from him. “Lighthouse” in particular is an excellent song to add to your music library or a playlist.

The country is nearing in on a full week under quarantine and everyone’s getting a little stir crazy. This week’s curation of the Fresh Out Da Week playlist is built to lift you out of that funk. The playlist is composed of soon-to-be hit songs from genre-bending artists. This week features tracks such as “Believer” by Ericdoa (@ericdoaa) of Neilaworld and Sportvvs (@sportvvs), “#snakes” by Chach (@imchach) and the mellow “Behavior” by 909Memphis. The track list is filled with artists that have been bubbling for years and soon to rise. For example, PPGCasper (@ppgcasper) and Pasto Flocco’s (@pastoflocco) “Don’t Wanna Dance”; each song is brand new, but some with familiar faces. The sound of the playlist is rap with a progressive rock and pop influence. This is directed by the producers such as DrinkBleachh (@ih8drinkbleachh), Angelus (@angelus7k) and Wndws (@prodwndws) for “Iphone” by Lil Wintr (@lilwintr) and Charlie Shuffler with Rio Leyva. This playlist was made to be a pick-me-up during this stagnant and confusing time, seems like it did its job.
