I’m A Bad Person by XanMan

XanMan just made the day of each of his fans. I’m A Bad Person who was released late Thursday night and is stuffed with stand-alone bangers. XanMan has the cure for boredom. The project overall is fun and XanMan opens up about his anxieties. It features XanMan’s iconic punchlines and wordplay. He doesn’t hold back nor disappoints. The album holds only two features, NoCap and Tisakorean, as the rapper tends to keeps to himself musically. XanMan tries his hand at R&B for “Paris”. This isn’t his first experience, but his vocals have greatly improved since Broken his previous album. This album couldn’t have arrived at a better time.

Away by Dev Soul

Dev Soul gives an emotional performance in his newest song “Away”. Featuring production by Timothy Infinite, Dev Soul lets his vocals stand at the forefront, his harmonizing is southing. The soft guitar strings carry his testimony. As a vocalist, Dev Soul is at his best. The music video, directed by Twon Carter, mimics his minimalistic approach to the ballad. Love and candlelight.

Hopeless Romance by Goffie featuring Sewerperson

There’s little chance for kindling new love, especially now. Goffie and Sewerperson collaborate to create a pop-punk inspired love song. Adding in the unique qualities of producer Brody’s instrumental, the single is a captivating work. Their vocals are distorted just enough to compliment the deep counts of bass in the background. “Hopeless Romance” is molded together perfectly and possibly a sign that there’s still hope for the almost-lovers out there.

Behavior by 909Mephis

909Mephis’ new music video for “Behavior” takes the viewer along a date between a disgruntled couple. The atmosphere seems romantic until their behavior towards each other changes. Directed by BenJAllen, a low-resolution video camera captures the couple’s close up and intimate expressions. The music, produced by RED, is sultry and 909Memphis’ known rhythm and blues style. His vocals are strained and some of the lyrics are drawn out, adding to the feeling that the viewer is witnessing heartbreak.

Fresh Out Da Week Playlist 3/17

This week’s volume of the Fresh Out Da Week playlist is an hour-long catalog made to broaden the sound of your personal playlist. Many of the songs have futuristic influences, melodies and high energy chords. This week is composed of bangers, exclusively. There are instant hits such as “Curtains” by Leesta (@1leesta), “F Love” by Surf (@surfskrt), “Tokyo Drift” by Lil Xelly (@LilXelly) and “Armageddon” by Lil Turbo (@golilturbo). As always, the producers are the evil masterminds. There are outlying performances such as Sparkheem (@sparkheem) and SpizzleDoe (@spizzledoe) for “Tokyo Drift”, FBK (@fadedblackid) and Lifted (@prodlifted) for “Armageddon”, and Dreoh (@dreoh1k) for “Upset”. There isn’t a single half-hearted song in this week’s playlist. Each track demands its own respect within its own lane.

East Hero: The Legend of MS by Michael Seuss

Michael Seuss takes a refined, yet classical approach in his newest album East Hero: The Legend of MS. His album structure and boom-bap style are an homage to tradition. The project leads with an “Intro” track followed by “East Hero” which tells the backstory behind MS. Michael’s lyricisms guides the listener through the story. Each track has its own theme. “Dockside Blues” is characterized with old school drums, high hats and altered record samples.

The album is nothing short of a graphic novel. Rapper Azlym lends his talents on “Dynamic Duo”. His grainy and mischievous verse feels like a pep talk from the Joker. East Hero: The Legend of MS is surely a milestone for Michael Seuss. His delivery and storytelling surpasses his previous work. The album ties together well and is executed with only one feature, outside of its bonus tracks, making most of the weight of gluing together this story his own. None of this time is wasted with dull lines or recycled lyrics. Akin to a true writer, he closes the project with “The Legacy Continues”. I’m sure there will be many more additions to Michael Seuss’ story.
