East Hero: The Legend of MS by Michael Seuss

Michael Seuss takes a refined, yet classical approach in his newest album East Hero: The Legend of MS. His album structure and boom-bap style are an homage to tradition. The project leads with an “Intro” track followed by “East Hero” which tells the backstory behind MS. Michael’s lyricisms guides the listener through the story. Each track has its own theme. “Dockside Blues” is characterized with old school drums, high hats and altered record samples.

The album is nothing short of a graphic novel. Rapper Azlym lends his talents on “Dynamic Duo”. His grainy and mischievous verse feels like a pep talk from the Joker. East Hero: The Legend of MS is surely a milestone for Michael Seuss. His delivery and storytelling surpasses his previous work. The album ties together well and is executed with only one feature, outside of its bonus tracks, making most of the weight of gluing together this story his own. None of this time is wasted with dull lines or recycled lyrics. Akin to a true writer, he closes the project with “The Legacy Continues”. I’m sure there will be many more additions to Michael Seuss’ story.
