Trapatar by Keko

How is he not famous yet?

That was my initial thought after listening to the opening track of Trapatar by Keko. The Atlanta rapper’s latest project has all the trappings of any artist you’d see in a Cole Bennett music video or featured on the next Drake single. Keko has a casual and almost childish cadence, one somewhat akin to Lil Yachty’s low but childlike voice. Keko sets himself apart from most with his approach, acting as if each instrumental is an opponent. He wants to have the best flow for each sound or style he’s working with- at least that’s how it sounds. This allows him to rap on the heavy trap and drill beats as well as some of the less conventional styles. Each track on his new EP hits differently, but it’ll only draw you in more.

A Call For Love Towards Lil Skies

Over the few weeks of 2019, fans have noticed a shift in the mood and presence of rapper Lil Skies on social media. His posts became shorter, less about music and “outfits of the day”. These lighthearted posts were instead replaced with melancholy thoughts or declarations. “At the end... time to go” and “I love my son 5ever” with his signature butterfly emoji are the Pennsylvania artist’s most recent and alarming messages to his supporters.

The new year has brought forth new promises to look after our entertainers. Cole Bennett, videographer, CEO of the ever-fresh hip hop outlet Lyrical Lemonade, and frequent collaborator with his fellow creator informed the public on social media Sunday evening and asked everyone to “love and appreciate Skies more”. Although it may not be clear what he's going through, it's evident that he requires love and support at this time. If 2020 can be the year known for anything, it should be know for we as consumers learning how to create a boundary between an artist and their humanity.

LOOK by Supa Bwe featuring Qari

Chicago is on a hot streak with the release of LOOK by local stars Supa Bwe and Qari. The explosive, bass-filled drill beat personifies Supa Bwe’s energy and makes it contagious.  Qari quite literally calms the track with his verses- cutting off Supa’s rage filled rants. The two rappers balance each others’ energy and the pacing of the song. On top of that, the song’s official Lyrical Lemonade visual has just dropped on YouTube, a collaboration with a fellow Eastern Illinois native Cole Bennett. It has all the right elements to be a hit.
