Age of the Beat Stars

Hip Hop has morphed dramatically since its origin in the 70s. Each generation adds its flavor and layer of creativity to the art. As we’ve fully stepped into the new decade, it has become increasingly obvious that producers have come for the crown. Rap has always been about the rhythm and poetry created by the DJs and emcees. But the years have brought a new audience, and a new sound. Melodic, drill, and trap rap are now international. Hip Hop is global and connecting personally with the lyrics isn’t necessary. Countries as vast as Russia, Korea, and Italy have adopted rap music. Where verbal communication falters, the rhythm does all the talking.

Now, simply what’s heard sonically is enough to connect one to a song. The impression of the bass, the emotion and tone of the vocals is key to evoke a response. Entire cultures are infused into Hip Hop, then shared even further through streaming and social media. At the core of these experiences are the producers and engineers. They’re able to create instrumentals so timeless and organic that it doesn’t take a certain listener to appreciate it. Producers search for fresh and enticing sounds to add texture and brand the beat into listeners’ brains. This all comes together in the studio as engineers take the best qualities of the beat and the artist’s vocals and create the hits of today.

It’s hard to say you haven’t liked a song just from the beat, especially the drop. That energy is hard to ignore. Production in itself has always been a prominent skill in creating music. Now, thanks to social media, young listeners and artists can follow their favorite producers, learn from them, and listen to all of their songs. Producer collectives have launched their recording careers. In this era, the artists are the instruments. Internet Money, the multi-faceted music collective, has earned themselves over twenty weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. Stars can be discovered at any stage when it comes to production. A young and driven collective is more than capable of leaving their mark. The collective Neilaworld acquired credits on multiple platinum projects in 2020, including Pop Smoke’s Shoot For The Stars, Aim for the Moon. In this new decade, everyone gets their credit. Anyone can be a star.

Lemonade by Internet Money ft. Gunna, Don Toliver, NAV

 “Ice.

Lemonade.

My neck was dripping.”

Internet Money has never missed, at they insured a clear win with their newest track “Lemonade” featuring vocals from Hip Hop elites such as Gunna, Don Toliver and NAV. The song is quick, giving it that ultra replay quality. Toliver’s notable vocal performance is captivating and NAV seals the deal with their verses. They keep it casual, with smooth tones and percussion like vibrato. Gunna closes out the track with a self aware verse and a prayer for everyone to get paid.

Get High by Tuxx

Tuxx, one of the newest prodigies to enter the Internet Money family, released a fresh new single “Get High”. The cool rhythm and low BPM highlight Tuxx’s vocal abilities. He songs, “You can be the drug if you wanna burn me out.” He harmonizes over an instrumental created by producers Rio Leyva, Cxdy, and Nick Mira. The track begins with airy guitar and hints of soft bass, coupled with bouncing 808s and energetic snares. The song holds the same essence as walking a date down the Santa Monica pier. Tuxx’s music, similar to his career, is bright and hopeful, and at the cusp of something bigger.

Parasite By Lilspirit

In tandem with Lilspirit’s upcoming album American Spirit, the young R&B artist has released his single “Parasite” on a global scale. The song, produced by mjNichols, was debuted on Beats1 Radio with Zane Lowe Wednesday morning. Lilspirit’s sultry vocals admit to some of his more negative and harmful love encounters. He describes a love that engulfs him, taking all of his peace but somehow still owning his heart. The young hitmaker is vulnerable and honest, seeking answers for uncontrollable love, or obsession, for someone so wrong for him.

Sins by Lil Spirit

Lil Spirit is one of the best at keeping promises. He stuck to his word and dropped his single “Sins” Friday morning. The blues track, co-produced by mjNichols and Alec Wigdahl, resembles the ‘90s or an early 2000s RnB hit. Lil Spirit is evidently most comfortable with this style of music. His vocal performance is more dynamic in this song than his previous singles. It’s possible that Lil Spirit Boy is gearing up to launch a project with a similar tone as “Sins”. But, it’s 2020, and Internet Money could have anything up their sleeves.

Waiting on Ascension by TyFontaine

It's said that hard work pays off, and TyFontaine has been putting all of his efforts into this moment. Waiting on Ascension is TyFontaine on his A-Game. The album is meant for those looking for something to boost their mood. ”Big Sosa” produced by Jr. Hitmaker, emulates the essence of the Chicago great, Chief Keef. TyFontaine puts his skills at the forefront throughout the album. With only eight tracks and a little over fifteen minutes, the Maryland rapper is up against the rest of the internet and listeners’ short attention spans due to something new replacing the next each moment. TyFontaine is an entertaining artist, he adopts different voices and personas seamlessly throughout his music. TyFontaine often uses a somewhat old school flow, giving him a solid foundation and allowing his ear and musical selection to project a more futuristic and vibrant mood.

The Big Step for Tyler Fontaine

Tyler Fontaine is a gem and a testament to the whiplash-fast speeds of the underground scene. In today’s age of digital stars, it's difficult to weed out the organically grown artists and those that some believe are developed by labels to trick or influence listeners. Artists that went unheard suddenly bubble to the surface and are “instantly” stars. Taz Taylor, CEO of Internet Money, is continuously the suspected culprit, according to online detectives. When he somewhat covertly picked up another artist, Hip Hop & RnB artist Tyler Fontaine on Sunday, again suspicions grew. I wanted to get in front of the roomers and conspiracy theories that are sure to arise in the coming months as they begin business and musical ventures.

Tyler Fontaine is a multitalented artist from Maryland. His discography cross genres. He sounds bounces from Trap, Drill, RnB, even dipping into Reggae. He's diverse and not afraid to experiment with his vocals and musical abilities. A fearlessness such as this is what fits the criteria of each of Taz Taylor’s artists, or a long-standing musician. Every year the industry changes and collects sounds, genres, and new tools to further music, adaptation is to be expected.

Tyler isn't a stranger to hard work. So far on his own, Tyler Fontaine has released half a dozen singles and collaborations on all major streaming platforms. Do Not Disturb 2, the sequel to his mixtape of the same name is his first project on Apple Music. The original, released in 2018, has accumulated over a hundred thousand streams on SoundCloud. His music and following didn't begin with Hollywood recognition. Tyler’s music, like any other underground artist, has been gradually building a following as he’s built up his abilities, confidence, and catalog. Nothing happens overnight.

The Unprecedented Rise of Iann Dior

Iann Dior is a 20-year-old rapper from Corpus Christi, Texas. He began his musical career using part of his name, his stage name eliminated Michael from Michael Olmo. It wasn’t until approximately the beginning of 2019 that he began using the alias Iann Dior. His music first gained traction amongst gamers and streamers on Twitch, connecting him with big name streamers and producers such as FaZe Banks, owner of gaming group FaZe Clan and Nick Mira, one of the hottest producers with a futuristic, emotional influence to his beats. This proved to be a killer combination as Iann’s first official releases on SoundCloud skyrocketed by millions. Iann Dior’s developing success is like no other.

His music seemed to resonate with younger audiences immediately. His first track, Cutthroat, produced by Nick Mira, broke into the New & Hot list on SoundCloud only a month after being posted. His music exploded without traditional advertising or marketing. Instead, video game streaming led the way. Nick Mira often creates loops and tracks live on stream for other producers and fans to follow along with. From collaborating and creating in this way, and creating a Discord for his fans, Iann’s music was being pushed to their audiences in real time. Fans could get sneak peeks and incredible VIP access to the process. From there, the Internet did its thing and FaZe Banks and other members of the streaming community caught on, playing his new, somewhat unreleased tracks on their streams. This was the rapper’s first big break.

The Texas rapper made one of the best decision he probably could early in his career: working with one of the most influential executive producers and A&Rs of the new age- Taz Taylor. Taz Taylor, owner of Internet Money, has proven to have one of the best ears for finding new talent. It appears this trio cannot be stopped. Since the success of Cutthroat, Iann has released two visuals and a handful of collaborations with other Internet Money artists such as PradaBaby and Bernard Jabs. Obviously, there was something special to him as an artist as he quickly picked up a feature from PNB Rock on his song ‘romance361’ and later, possibly controversial, King of Emo Rap: Trippie Redd for ‘gone girl’.

At this point in his journey, Iann Dior’s path appears to be the future for underground artists. Promoting music directly to your audience provides an artist a bond that labels can’t create. His supporters could see each of his moves as they occurred. They know about all the hard work and engineering that went into each of his tracks, videos, and photoshoots. This relationship, between an artist and fans, gave pop star Justin Bieber his start over ten years ago via YouTube and manager  Scooter Braun. If Iann can keep up this momentum, there’s no telling where he’ll be a year from now.
